Urgent: Last chance to stand up for indigenous land rights!

Urgent: Last chance to stand up for indigenous land rights!

Urgent: Land Rights are under attack and there’s one last chance to make sure our voice is heard! Join us outside Parliament House in Brisbane on Monday to let this Government know that they cannot keep making decisions that affect us without us. For generations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been fighting for our land rights and within a matter of weeks the Government are trying to rush through changes to the Native Title Act without proper consultation with our mob.

It’s not fair and we can’t stand by and let them get away with making decisions about us without us.

That’s why last week Seed mobilised almost 10,000 people to stand with us by making a submission into the Parliament inquiry to fight for land rights. They helped us spread the message to ensure that this sneaky business wasn’t going to just be swept under the carpet by Brandis, the Federal Government and their mining mates.

But right now, it’s time to ramp up the pressure again by turning out at Parliament House in Brisbane on Monday morning where a Public Hearing is being held in regards to the proposed Native Title Amendments.

Will you stand up for land rights again by joining us in Brisbane on Monday?

This Public Hearing is the only hearing being held across the country even though these changes would affect how all Native Title holders make agreements about what happens on their land. What’s more, many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly in remote communities, don’t even know that this is happening.

This only opportunity we have left to make our voices heard. Join our rally and let the Government know that we demand proper consultation and that they cannot keep making decisions that affect us without us!

If they’re passed, these changes would make it even easier for the mining industry to divide Aboriginal communities and allow huge conglomerates like Adani, the Indian coal company, to destroy sacred country with Australia’s biggest proposed coal mine.

In solidarity,

Larissa and Millie,

On behalf of the Seed Mob team

P.S. If you want to hear about you can stop big fossil fuel projects like Adani’s Carmichael mine, come along to the Stop Adani Roadshow. Members of Seed will be speaking, and you’ll be able to pick up an action pack so you can get started taking action straight away. Click here to join the Brisbane event.
